Xingang Wang was born and raised in mainland China and came to England after his university degree in 2001. He has been academically trained in various universities, including engineering (Imperial College London), mathematics (Oxford University) and currently enrolled in EMBA (PLD) programme at Harvard Business School.

Xingang is active in politics. He recently became the approved Conservative Parliamentary candidate. He is also the Chairman of Conservative Friends of the Chinese Surrey Branch. He was the Conservative candidate for local council elections in 2014.

His professional experience includes Transport Planning consulting and investment banking. He has worked in various high profile infrastructure projects including the Congestion Charge Scheme in London, Stratford Docklands Light Rail for London Olympic and the National Rail train operator performance review. He is currently working in Product Control (Accounting function) in the City of London and has recently published his first book to give career advice.

Michael initially looked to science as a career path having obtained a BSc (HONS) degree in Chemistry from UMIST in 1990. He however felt that the cut and thrust of litigation was more his yearning having initially started at Lovells, Hong Kong working on a large construction arbitration dispute during 1990 – 1991. He returned to the United Kingdom and indeed changed career paths and completed the CPE, LSF and formally qualified as a solicitor in September 1995. His ambition and adversarial skills in litigation quickly made him rise from an assistant solicitor to partnership in 1998 and equity partner status by 2001.

Alex Yip is British Born Chinese, with a strong sense of his Chinese heritage. After graduating in 2004 from Leicester University with a Masters in International Relations, Alex took over the family business which enabled him to spend his free time giving something back to the community.

In 2006 Alex became a School Governor at Kingsbury School and Sports College, Birmingham, a position that he still holds and he is currently Vice-Chair of the Governing Body. This is a position that he says he finds "both challenging and rewarding in that you see the difference you make to the pupils and you have the opportunity to change lives, but it also gives a very strong insight into the difficulties and challenges faced by secondary schools, the effect that government policies have on the front lines, in terms of the support that they have, but also in looking at the changes in society and difficulties that are emerging in these changing times"

Sarah Lu was born in a refugee camp in Lincolnshire, England in 1980. Her parents were Boat People who escaped from Vietnam in 1979. After graduating with a BA (hons) Graphic Design in 2001 from Buckinghamshire University aged 21, she moved to Brighton where she set up her own Graphic Design company - 'Shortlong Graphics' with the help of funding from the Prince's Trust.

Throughout these years Sarah Lu ran several public houses as franchises to raise more funds for her business ideas. In 2005 Shortlong was sold and Sarah Lu left the U.K. to work as a creative in top advertising agencies, Cunning and Naked, both based in New York, USA.

I have a photo of a ramshackle pig shed. It’s a picture of where I was born. Sometimes, searching for other things, I come across it. It’s another world now, so far away it’s like looking the wrong way through a telescope. But it’s where I began.

My parents left rural poverty in Hong Kong for Britain when I was one. My brothers and sisters and I stayed, in the care of a family friend. It was a big change, but not what my parents had hoped. Instead of going to school, we made plastic flowers in a toy factory for the woman they had trusted with our care. I was ten when we joined my parents. I knew one English word when I arrived; ‘tomorrow’.
