Florence Qiu
Founder, Sino-Anglo Cultural Exchange Association

Florence has been instrumental in pioneering Chinese arts and culture in the Chinese community, and to a wider mainstream audience in the North East of England. She founded the Sino-Anglo Cultural Exchange Association and her work and dedication has enhanced the quality of life for many of Newcastle’s members of the Chinese community, providing access and education to both the young and the old.

Her work over the last 20 years has spanned the UK and China, and has linked traditional and modern Chinese art to the mainstream, bringing different communities together. Her achievements are numerous and in 2004, the Arts Council of England said, “Without her dedication, we are sure most of us would be a lot less knowledgeable about Chinese culture and Arts.”

Ms. Florence Qiu was one of three Winners of The Pearl Award for 'Unsung Heroes' in 2007.
