Gok Wan

Fashion Stylist and TV Presenter

Born in 1974 in Leicester, Gok has worked in the fashion industry for the best part of a decade. Studying at London's prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama, he found himself drawn to hair and make-up over drama, prompting his entrée into the fashion industry and gaining him early work as a hair and make-up artist on titles such as The Sunday Times Style.

Finding himself dissatisfied with beauty alone, however, Gok decided to pursue his love of clothes as a fashion stylist.

Nearly eight years on his talent and tenacity has seen him build up quite a pedigree: he has worked with some of the world's most renowned photographers (Rankin, Mike Owen, Tony McGee, Jason Joyce and Arthur Elgot), had his work published internationally (Glamour, The Face, Cosmopolitan, Afisha Mir and People Magazine US), amassed an enviable celebrity client-base (Bryan Ferry, Vanessa Mae, Damien Lewis and All Saints to name a few) and consulted on a host of television shows including How to Look Good Naked Series 1, 2 & 3, GMTV, BBC1's Battle of The Sexes and Richard and Judy.

Gok has also wowed his fans with appearances on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and The F Word, whilst his appearance on The New Paul O’Grady Show resulted in Paul O’Grady stripping naked. Gok has also guest hosted Channel 4's Friday Night Project.

Despite his growing status as one of the UK's most sought-after stylists and fashion 'gurus', Gok remains far from blasé (though a little mischievous) about his achievements, especially where his celebrity clients are concerned:

"I never dreamt as a child that the people I danced around my bedroom singing to and tried to emulate style-wise, I'd one day get to tell what to wear!

Gok Wan's book How to Look Good Naked is published by Harper Collins.

Is it really any wonder that women are willing to take their clothes off for him on national television?

Gok rules. That's all I can say - his show "How to Look Good Naked" helps not only the women on the show but women watching everywhere. He is a wunderkind extraordinaire, helping women to conquer low self-esteem and to love the skin they're in. YOU RULE GOK!!!!!!!!

Hey there, My name is Lyndsay and im looking for your help.....not for myself though!...this is for the mother smile. She recently just turned 40 and is quite a modern mum, just one problem....a nightmare to shop with :/....going shopping with her is a nightmare, it takes hours just to choose one item of clothing, but here is the real problem..........her style is just so outdated, she will buy one modern item and wear it with something so out of fashion, not good!, the cropped trousers have got to go!! and the orange make-up!!!. I hope that you can help her realise fashion is major and not just a bin bag chucked on hehe, please Gok!, she needs your help. Yours sincerely Lyndsay McVean x
