Jing Lusi 陆思敬

Actress

Born in Shanghai, Jing came to England at the age of five, and had her first taste of performing at 10 years old with the Really Useful Group’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After attending the prestigious Stagecoach Theatre School, Jing put acting on hold and attended University College London, graduating in Law in 2006.

Now based in London, Jing’s first appearance on screen was in the award winning feature film Breathe, alongside Ricci Harnett, directed by Nicholas Winter (winner of Best Director at the London Independent Film Festival 2010, and nominated for Best Feature Film). Filmed in 2008, Jing originally auditioned for a minor role, but was offered the lead role of Lauren after impressing the director and producer at her first audition.

Her breakthrough film came in 2009, when after a chance meeting with Stephen Rahman-Hughes in an acting workshop in London, she was recommended to KRU Studios for the lead role of Princess Meng Li Hua in The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines. After an online audition, Jing was flown out to Kuala Lumpur to begin the three-month shoot. For her role, Jing spoke English, Mandarin and learnt Bahasa Melayu phonetically, as well as training in stunt work with the Hong Kong Jackie Chan Stunt Crew.

Back on home soil, Jing recently filmed Jack Falls at Pinewood Studios, the concluding part in the British gangster trilogy, also starring Dexter Fletcher, Jason Flemying, Olivia Hallinan, and Tamer Hassan.

Both The Malay Chronicles and Jack Falls screened at the American Film Market in LA in November 2010. Subsequently, The Malay Chronicles is due for international theatrical release March 2011, with the title sold to over 40 countries, including UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, and China.

Jing has also presented for European television, helping students learn English in the series London Files, together with Suck My Pop’s presented Will Best. She speaks fluent Mandarin, and has appeared with singer Duffy in a highly publicized commercial campaign, modeled for Getty Images, and translated for Ealing Studios.
Jing lives and works in London and Los Angeles.
