Leon Chua

Solicitor

At the age of 16, Leon started his own ticket agency company in order to fund and maintain himself through college. It was due to his passion in business that Leon decided to pursue a career in Law.

Leon read law at the University of Greenwich and graduated with an upper-second class honours degree in LLB Law. He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at BPP Law School before commencing his legal career with the Magic Circle firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and subsequently qualified as a solicitor with an international law firm.

After leaving this firm, Leon provided complex commercial legal advice to the renowned entrepreneur, Mr Felix Grovit. He subsequently established himself as a consultant solicitor practicing in commercial law and dispute resolution where he has provided complex legal advice relating to joint ventures, shareholders agreement, terms of business, franchising and commercial disputes to a number of overseas clients as well as UK based clients.

In addition, Leon has acted pro bono for a range of charities including the Chinese Information and Advice Centre, which offers support to disadvantaged Chinese people; and Citizens UK, helping the Chinese community to participate in public life. He campaigned with London Citizens UK to “Say No to Gambling” in London Chinatown and has also provided his support to the BC Project which aims to encourage British Chinese into politics.

Leon has been involved with notable cases such as R (on the application of Lee Ling Low & Others) v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2010] EWCA Civ 4 and R v Martin Jahnke, Cambridge MC (2009).

In his spare time, Leon practices Brazilian Ju-jitsu and is an avid cyclist. He has successfully completed the London to Brighton charity bike-ride in 2010 and 2011.
