Pei Feng Su
Sociologist and Animal Activist

Pei-Feng Su, the co-founder of ACTAsia, has a Masters degree in Sociology and her thesis focused on Advocacy for Animals in the UK and has been active in animal advocacy for fifteen years.

ACTAsia is a new organisation set up by Asian animal activists to develop sustainable and professional animal advocacy. It conducted the workshops as part of its programme to provide knowledge, expertise, tools and platforms for Asian animal activists and groups, through training, mentoring and networking. She was formerly a Director of affiliate groups for an international animal welfare charity in the UK.

Originally a florist, Pei Feng Su became involved with the Environment and Animals Society of Taiwan (EAST) and was soon a leading activist. Pei Feng came to the UK to learn English and has never returned. She still assists EAST, but has been working in international animal welfare for some years now. She has been helping animal protection societies from throughout Asia by capacity building, expertise and grants.

In the past seven years, she has focused on building the capacity of local advocates around the world. She has published several reports and papers and also given presentations at international conferences. In 2005, she initiated and co-organised a 4-week residential leadership course in Italy for animal advocates worldwide.

Pei Feng has also been a brave and intrepid campaigner, carrying out undercover investigations and exposing these fearlessly.

Pei Feng Su is based in London and was a Finalist of The Pearl Award for Reverence For Life in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Dear Pei Feng, I am grateful for the work that you do on behalf of the animals of China. I am very concerned about the fur issue in China and the skinning of live cats and dogs. I am also distressed about the rounding up and killing of pets as people are displaced from their apartments to make way for the Olympic Village. With China coming into the spotlight with it's booming economy and the upcoming Olympics, can any pressure be brought on them to put animal welfare more positively in the spotlight? With the great power of the Chinese nation poised on the horizon, it seems a shame to let the many beautiful tenets of the Chinese culture be overshadowed by the government's lust for money and power. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and warm regards, Martha Ciattei
