China Live is a 13-venue UK touring programme of live performances and film screenings by Chinese artists, a bilingual publication about contemporary Chinese performance, and a symposium about Chinese performance and its documentation. The project, which took place in October 2005, was in collaboration with Live Art UK, the Live Art Development Agency and Shu Yang of the DaDao Live Art Festival, Beijing. It offered audiences a rare opportunity to witness visceral and challenging performance work by some of the current generation of Chinese artists, exceeding projections across all venues. The project also ran a programme supporting educational initiatives, which included talks, workshops, panel discussions and video screenings designed to raise awareness of the Chinese art scene.
