Since 1998 Yalan has been working as a professional Mandarin language and cross-cultural communication training manager and consultant to individuals, corporate organisations and governmental bodies in the UK, France, and Asia.

Outside of the training arena, Yalan has also successfully employed her background in business and finance to facilitate multinationals, financial institutions, European Commission on a number of Euro-Sino projects ( approx. €2 million/project), which involved strategy advice on the pre Joint-Venture (JV) due diligence, integration of multicultural teams post JV, high-street fashion branding and marketing penetration in emerging markets.

Her success has granted her interviews by Channel 4 News and BBC Radio Five recently, proving she is indeed contributing positively to international organisations and local communities.

During her MA studies in world politics at Grand Ecole in Paris and co-research projects with the European Parliament, Yalan discovered many difficulties for emerging communities within these Western democracies, such as the marginalisation of overseas Chinese. This inspired her to invest a personal commitment to help Chinese minority cultural groups in the U.K. and Europe to engage more in politics, in mainstream society, the criminal justice system, the education system, public affairs etc.

Since November 2006, she has embodied her political background and enthusiasm to assist the founder of The BC Project, Ms. Christine Lee to launch the programme, plan, develop and promote the project amongst the Chinese communities, UK Government and Parliament.
